Muslim attacks and US Marine Corps Hymn

While preparing last month’s blog post, which talked about “the two attacks on USA – similarities and differences,” I learned that 9/11 was not the first attack by Muslims against Americans.  The history goes back to the time of Thomas Jefferson who, as then ambassador to France, was personally involved in dealing with it.

I also came across a fascinating historical fact about the United States Marine Corps Hymn, which starts out with these words: “From the Halls of Montezuma to the Shores of Tripoli.”  The shores of Tripoli, Libya, in northern Africa is where the Muslim pirates carried out unprovoked attacks on non-Muslim ships including American.

I’m sure you’ll instantly recognize the melody when you play the music on YouTube.  Enjoy!
