Frankenmuth, Michigan

Recently, David and I made a day trip to and from Frankenmuth. It is about an hour drive from where we live.

Frankenmuth is known for its chicken dish, served with sauerkraut (cooked cabbage) and potatoes. The chicken is delicious! It is fried but tastes quite a bit different from Kentucky Fried Chicken. We hardly ever eat at KFC but we’ll make a special trip, every so often, just to enjoy chicken in Frankenmuth. Yes, it’s that tasty!

English being my second language, sometimes I have difficulty remembering certain words. So I call it, “chickenmuth,” and David knows exactly what I’m talking about.

Frankenmuth has at least one (if not more) covered bridge. In other words, the bridge has a roof over it. It’s the coolest thing! I’m guessing that the idea is to keep driving on the bridge a bit safer when it’s below freezing.

For this post, I googled “covered bridges.” Oh my goodness, I did not realize how many there are throughout North America – a lot!

I love my life in the U.S.A. I came here as a 23-year-old, newlywed, over half a century ago. Thanks to my husband, my “bestest” friend, life in America has been exceptionally good to me. No regrets whatsoever.
