When I have all the time in the world to do whatever I want, there is no excuse not to get started.
My first language is Japanese. English is my second. I have been bilingual for several decades. I have been told that I have no accent in either language. Adding another language should not be too difficult, or so I think. I can get started — to see if this proves to be true.
Of all the languages in the world, I have been drawn to Italian lately. Not sure why. It just sounds cool. When I was young, someone once said to me, “Italian grammar is quite straightforward, especially as compared to English.”
Of all the countries in the world, Italy is the one that I’ve been wanting to visit, too. Maybe because I love Italian food. An Italian acquaintance once said to me, however, “Italian food you get in Italy is nothing like what is served in so-called Italian restaurants in the U.S.” I’d like to check out for myself what she meant.
She also said to me, “Italy is a lot like Japan. Both countries are surrounded by a large body of water. So, naturally, in both countries, people love seafood.” How true!
