Investing Outside of Wall Street – Conscientious vendors

It dawned on me that I react one of two ways when I’m working with conscientious vendors.

The first is that I tell everyone about the vendor so that others, too, can benefit from what the vendor has to offer.

The second is that I tell no one so that I remain one of the few that knows about the vendor.

  • Being selfish? Perhaps.
  • Has it worked well for me? Yes.
  • Do the vendors care that I don’t tell anyone about them? Probably not.
    • The vendors must know that, for them to ask us to find additional clients for them would entail us, the vendor’s existing clients, to bring in more of our own competition.
    • Regardless, I’ve been working with some of the vendors for a decade or so and this has never been an issue.
    • Clearly, they already have plenty of work to do with their current client base.

Just an observation.

Happy investing!
